Three Lions to Face New Zealand and Costa Rica in South Florida
England have confirmed their final two friendly matches before the 2026 World Cup, with Thomas Tuchel's side taking on New Zealand and Costa Rica in a pre-tournament training camp in south Florida.
The Three Lions will face New Zealand on Saturday 6 June before meeting Costa Rica on Wednesday 10 June — exactly one week before their World Cup opener against Croatia in Dallas on Wednesday 17 June.
“These are crucial preparation games for us. New Zealand are tournament qualifiers and Costa Rica will provide a different tactical challenge ahead of the group stage,” said Tuchel.
World Cup Preparation Schedule
- 27 March (Wembley): England vs Uruguay
- 31 March (Wembley): England vs Japan
- 6 June (Florida): England vs New Zealand
- 10 June (Florida): England vs Costa Rica
- 17 June (Dallas): England vs Croatia (World Cup Group L)
England have not faced New Zealand since 1991, and the All Whites' qualification for the expanded 48-team tournament makes them ideal preparation. Costa Rica, despite failing to qualify, will help Tuchel's squad adapt to Concacaf opposition — England also face Panama in Group L.
The Three Lions will be based in Kansas City, Missouri throughout the World Cup, travelling to Dallas, Boston and New York for their three group fixtures. Tuchel will name his squad following the March international break before finalising selections for the June warm-up camp.
