Man Utd confirm Sesko, Mbeumo withdraw from international duty with injuries
Sesko and Mbeumo fire United up to third
After an indifferent first half of the 2025-26 season under Ruben Amorim, Manchester United sacked the Portuguese coach and appointed Michael Carrick as interim manager until the end of the campaign.
The move has proved inspired, with the Red Devils sitting third in the Premier League at the March international break. Bryan Mbeumo has scored ten goals in all competitions since joining from Brentford, while Benjamin Sesko has netted six times in January and February after a slow start.
Duo miss international break due to injuries
United confirmed that neither Sesko nor Mbeumo will take part in end-of-March international fixtures. Noussair Mazraoui recovered from illness and will join Morocco, while the two attackers remain at Old Trafford to recover.
Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui has recovered from an illness and will link up with Morocco, ahead of their friendlies against Ecuador and Paraguay. Bryan Mbeumo has had to withdraw from Cameroon's squad for friendlies against Australia and China, as a precaution, after being substituted in the 71st minute of Friday night's 2-2 draw with Bournemouth. Benjamin Sesko has also had to withdraw from international duty. The centre-forward will miss Slovenia's friendlies against Hungary and Montenegro, in order to ensure that he fully recovers from an issue that United have been carefully managing throughout recent weeks.
Bournemouth draw leaves United five points clear with seven games left
In the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, both Sesko and Mbeumo featured but failed to score; a Bruno Fernandes penalty and an own goal from James Hill gave United a lead before Eli Junior Kroupi equalised from the spot.
Despite the dropped points, Aston Villa's win and defeats for Liverpool and Chelsea left Carrick's side five points ahead of fifth place with only seven matches remaining in the Premier League season.
- Mbeumo: 10 goals all competitions
- Sesko: 6 goals Jan-Feb
- United: 3rd in Premier League
